Role Purpose :
This position is a Research Director in the Technology and Service Provider, Personal Technologies research group. This is an excellent opportunity for a tenured technology marketing professional.
As a Research Director, you will be a key member of our global team able to interact at all levels of an organization, both externally and internally. You will be taking the lead on supporting clients primarily in Asia, and occasionally globally.
The Personal Technologies research area includes the devices, services and apps owned and accessed by an individual at home, at play and in the workplace. It encompasses broad initiatives such as “day in the life of a user” or other concepts such as the “connected home” and the “connected workplace”.

Being a thought leader, delivering role-focused, impactful, provocative research to clients through a wide range of media including published research, 1-to-1 client interactions, presentations and third-party engagements.
Develop compelling futuristic scenarios that inspire clients to act.
Champion Gartner’s Personal Technologies research and demonstrate a dynamic presence in front of both large and small audiences.
Engage in meaningful C-level and senior manager client discussions linked to market directions, business models and the impact they have on their companies’ financial performance and running of their businesses.
Articulate Personal Technologies research positions and scenarios including quantitative areas such as forecast assumptions and how they impact a very broad range of our clients across their businesses.
Prepare accurate deliverables in accordance with established guidelines and tight deadlines. The position will involve coordination of research globally.
Actively support Gartner sales to find and close new business as well as retain and support a broad range of clients.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree in related field; Masters preferred
Professional Experience
10 plus year experience working within technology field such as Mobility, Devices, and Services, Applications and the supporting business models and eco-systems. Devices include wearables, smartphones, tablets and PCs. Consumer services include broadband internet, mobile data, pay TV/Internet video
Technical/ Professional Skills & Competencies • Strong business acumen with quantitative aptitude and demonstrated analytical ability
Strong project management and interpersonal skills
Confidant, articulate and convincing presentation skills – to both small and large groups
Related experience and/or subject matter expertise in a field related to Personal Technologies
A passion for writing with associated excellence in written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently from Gartner’s Singapore office with a globally dispersed set of peers and colleagues
