3. EXPECTED WORK
The Design Architect reports to the Solutions Design Manager within the Project Portfolio & Solutions Team, and is responsible to delivering detailed solutions designs aligned to approved architecture standards, and the brief of the Lead Architects utilising current defined standards and best practices. This role operates within a Global service delivery environment to provide a detailed design function to all of Unilever's business lines.

The Design Architect will have at least four years' experience in a Solution Designer role, or similar, and be responsible for designing large and complex solutions with an IT infrastructure spend of £1M or more.

The Design Architect is expected to have a strong technical background and be a subject matter expert for multiple technology domains, and have a passion for designing infrastructure solutions and learning new technology.

The successful candidate will gain a broad knowledge of the existing infrastructure landscape and understanding of the Unilever destination architecture. They are further expected to stay abreast with technology advances across the core technology landscape.

The Design Architect will be pro-active and take responsibility for building their knowledge and skills to provide a leading design role, utilising internal and third party capabilities to deliver a Solution Design service to Unilever.

The Design Architect will not have any people management responsibilities, but may be required to provide coaching, advice and onsite leadership to more junior members of the team.



4. RESOURCE TO BE MANAGED UNDER POSITIONS AUTHORITY1. Capital Expenditure, the Design Architect must ensuring that solutions make the best possible use of Unilever capita.

2. People, the Design Architect will be required to provide coaching, advice and onsite leadership to more junior members of the team.

3. Systems, the Design Architect will ensuring that system upgrades are delivered without impact to the criticality or disaster recovery characteristics.

5, PROBLEM SOLVINGInfrastructure Requirements analysis / documentation

1. Infrastructure Solutions design.

2. Technical liaison with SME functions.

3. Stakeholder Management of senior IT stake holders.

4. Alignment of design deliverables to IT strategy.

6. CHANGEResponsible for the creation of solution designs that meet the hosting requirements of the business. These designs will be aligned to existing strategy or exceptions negotiated by the presentation of a clear logical argument.

1. The DA must be able to apply existing learned techniques and strategies alongside breakthrough thinking to ensure the hosting solution meets the requirements of the business.

2. The Design Architect must be able to tailor their communication approach to the audience to ensure that any information is delivered correctly and efficiently.
