Oracle Technical Specialist (7-12 yrs)



This position is for members of the International Competency Center (ICC) focusing on projects and pre-sales support using Oracle Database and Applications on Power, System x, and Storage Systems. The goal of this role is to participate in increasing leadership and differentiation with hardware running Oracle software.

This job is for an IT Specialist working within the STG organization as part of the International Competency Center (ICC). Candidates will work closely with Oracle development and performance engineers to design and execute technical projects running Oracle products on Hardware (Power, System x, System z, and Storage Systems). Candidates will also be responsible for writing white papers, presentations, documenting POCs, and producing other technical documents related to the projects they deliver.

Some travel is expected.

The following lists details on the specific responsibilities for this role:

- Install and tune Oracle products on hardware platforms (Linux, AIX). Products include: Oracle DB, Oracle RAC, Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Fusion middleware, and Oracle Retail, Oracle Fusion applications

- Execute load-generating (HP Load-runner and Oracle Application Test Suite) tests to stress the platform

- Using standard performance monitoring tools, capture performance data from server and storage subsystems

- Document architecture and tuning best practices based on test results

- Provide technical content for sales collateral

- Work with Sizing Specialists to update sizing tools based on performance test analysis

- Participate in customer briefings and solution demonstrations as needed

- Assist with proof-of-concept projects when the results can be used to update sizing tools

- IBM Cloud products

- Provide third-level technical sales support to personnel, when needed

Skills

- The candidate should have knowledge and hands-on experience installing and configuring Hardware (Power, System x, and/or Storage Systems). Candidates ideally will be familiar running performance tools on Hardware to collect and analyze performance data.

- The candidate should be familiar setting up and configuring Hardware in support of their projects. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
